Corrupio is, in my opinion, one of the most exciting contemporary Portuguese restaurants in Lisbon right now. The space is relaxed and full of character, with a few tables outside, a lively counter, and a small indoor dining room. Reservations are pretty much essential unless you enjoy gambling with your dinner plans. The menu is creative, constantly evolving, and full of pleasant surprises. It respects Portuguese flavors while refusing to be predictable, making every visit feel a little different from the last. The wine list deserves a special mention. Instead of relying on the usual suspects, it gives plenty of space to independent producers and lesser-known labels, making it one of the most interesting selections in town. The crowd is mostly made up of tourists exploring Cais do Sodré, along with plenty of expats and a handful of locals who know they're onto something. In a city where "creative" can sometimes mean "overcomplicated," Corrupio gets the balance just right. A restaurant that's inventive without showing off—and one that's well worth booking ahead.
