O Comilão

O Comilão is one of those Lisbon classics that somehow keeps surviving and thriving in Campo de Ourique, a neighborhood that’s been heavily gentrified over the past few years. Just maintaining its originality and quality in these times already deserves applause. The kitchen focuses on traditional Alentejo Portuguese classics, cooked the way they’re supposed to be: hearty, honest, and satisfying. Service is old-school in the best sense efficient, friendly, and straight to the point, no unnecessary choreography. The crowd is mostly local families and old-school regulars who’ve clearly been coming here for years. The dining room is simple, nothing fancy, but it does the job. A reminder that authenticity still matters and that not every great meal needs reinvention.
